Default Semi-new Player: Trying to get in to GW

Okay, I tried to get in to Guild Wars when it first released a while back, but for whatever reason, I just couldn't get in to it. I am giving it another try now, and I am looking for some Profession help. I am curious what would be a good Profession combo to start out and get my first level 20. Noting that I have almost no skills unlocked, so I will need to do the basic skill gathering.

Is there any particular combo that can do things like Hench their way through Missions?

Also, what is the most effecient way to level? Just get through the missions as quickly as possible?

Thanks in advance.

Well, most would probably say W/Mo just because it's easy to play as, but I think that Rangers are a lot more enjoyable. I'm biased though. I'd say try them all out and just see which you like to play as. I never thought I'd like Monk as much as I do, but they're a heck of a lot of fun to play as. So was my E/Rt and my N/Me (hexes ftw!)

As for henching things, every class I've played has been able to hench virtually everything I've put them up to, and the only times I've failed at it I felt is was my own fault (henching Thunderhead Keep with a Sword Ranger is doable, but HARD).

For leveling up, the fastest way I've seen (in prophecies) was to start by not taking any missions and just killing monsters. Take the first one just to get some skills, then go to town on the monsters. Do that until about level 5, then start doing quests. You can EASILY get up to level 9 before you leave PreSearing, which makes the whole rest of the game a breeze. In Factions, just do quests and forget the monsters.

Thanks for the tip. I have both Prophecies and Factions. If I am going to go W/Mo, would I be better servered starting out in Prophecies or Factions? I assume both has unique skills to be gained. Once I beat Prophecies, can I then go do the Factions content with the same character?

The two characters can travel between games once you do the proper quests. Since you're new to the game, I recommend starting in Prophecies, since it's a little easier on the learning curve, and it has skill quests that reward you with new skills throughout the game, rather than having to buy them all like in Factions. Once you get your Prophecies character to Lion's Arch, you can travel to Cantha (Factions) and be able to map over at any time.

yeah, listen to sykoone. Sometimes, doing things fast isn't such a good idea. This is one of those times.

Don't start in Factions. Do you read book two before book one? eat dinner before breakfast? Of course not. Prophecies is number one, play it first. BTW, you need heaps of money if you want to get all the skills, you have to buy most of them. In prophecies most are from skill quests.
